Select Star is a data catalog and discovery platform built for modern enterprises. Our platform automatically catalogs & documents database tables and BI dashboards, providing actionable intelligence for our customers in 24 hrs. With Select Star, you can find out where your data is coming from, which dashboards are built on top of it, who is using the data, and how they are using it.

We’re currently a seed stage company, backed by some of the best early-stage tech investors like Bowery Capital, Background Capital, and prominent angel investors (Spencer Kimball, Scott Belsky, Nick Caldwell, and more).

Top data teams from businesses like Opendoor, Pitney Bowes, Vivino, Electric.ai and more are relying on Select Star to understand their data. We’re starting to see strong traction in the market and are looking to build out our team to help us scale.

The Role

Select Star is looking for a technical guide and advisor who is passionate about making our clients successful. The Sales Engineering team helps win new opportunities and ensures our customers are able to achieve their goals with Select Star. What you’ll do:

  • Become an expert in all things relating to Select Star (features, functionality, use, etc.)
  • Work hands-on with prospects and customers to demonstrate and communicate the value of Select Star technology throughout the sales cycle, from demo to proof of concept to architecture design and implementation
  • Be an active member of the Select Star community
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer data architecture / pipelines and serve as the primary point of escalation for customer issues
  • Build active and meaningful relationships with customers and ensure high customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering and Marketing to continuously improve Select Star’s products and marketing

Who you are:

  • 3-5 years in Sales Engineering, Technical Success Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Software/Data Engineering, Technical Consulting or similar roles
  • Strong understanding of the Modern Data Stack, data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Intermediate+ level for SQL and BI tools (Tableau, Mode, Looker, etc)
  • Possess a combination of technical skills and also the ability to build relationships with customers
  • Self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extreme empathy and a focus on achieving great customer outcomes
  • Comfortable working in and excited about an independent, fast-paced environment
